RFID Readers

In a RFID system, there are two primary components : Transponder and Interrogator.

A RFID reader is an interrogator.A RFID reader typically contains a module (transmitter and receiver), a control unit and a coupling element (antenna). The reader has three main functions: energizing, demodulating and decoding. A reader uses antenna to send out signals and receive signals from the tags(Transponders). Typically , a middleware communicates with a reader so that the radio waves returned from the RFID tag are converted into a form that can be processed and passed on to another system, like a computer or any programmable logic controller. Anti-Collision algorithms permit the simultaneous reading of large numbers of tagged objects, while ensuring that each tag is read only once.

There are  many types of readers which are designed and adapted for different applications and process.

For example, the CS-469 reader manufactured by Convergence System Ltd. is a UHF EPC C1G2 4 Port Fixed RFID reader with the best read rate and read range and dense reader performance in the industry. Different antennas can be fitted according to application.

Most general purpose readers operate from -20°C to 55°C (-40°F to 131°F) and within a humidity range from 10% to 95% Non-condensing. Each country has selected certain bandwidth for RFID use. A reader must be certified to operate at that bandwidth if it is to be used in that country.
